Hi, I am Partha Mukherjee. I am a software developer by profession. I am also passionate about stock research and investment. I have opened StrategyTrades.com just to help others with my insight about the stock market.
My love technology. Creating new solutions using technology to help others really thrills me. I decided to open my site to have a repository of all the knowledge and tools I have in my disposal for the whole world.
I am currently based in Bay Area, California. I frequent the beach, inland lakes, and open spaces here. Pacific water in general is colder than Atlantic, so we tend to head to inland lakes for a warm water swimming. I relish the pleasant warm weather here and also the option to drive to Tahoe for snow.
I stayed in Broomfield, Colorado for 3 years (thanks to McData now Brocade). Being in Colorado winter was like being a guest in heaven. Snow flakes showered on me like cotton. The whole view changed in front of your eyes from colorful to white. The majestic Rockies belittle you. There are so many fast moving rapids. I also learnt to be laid back and enjoy every day to its lees.
Limitation a person perceives is a limitation in its own mind (or imagination).
Limitation a person perceives is a limitation in its own mind (or imagination). I think I will be able to do anything if I get determined to do it even if every past record of mine suggest otherwise. I have seen many times, when I am pursuing a determined goal, an invisible hand of god holds me and guides me through every hurdle. This theory is also suggested by many personal development books, most notably Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This faith allowed me to try things which are way out of my current areas of strength and sometimes seen like dumb by many.
It gives me a great pleasure to see myself driving any task to completion. Especially when the dip before the final assent is steep and hopeless. On the dip moments the only things you have to go on is your gut instinct, faith and believe on God.
I am lucky to work on vast array of different products which includes writing a Distributed File System for a startup. The startup went under but it did provide me with a deep understanding of unix operating system and scalable servers.
Currently I work in eBay (PayPal to be specific) and really amazed by the power of ecommerce market and technology. It is huge contrast from my previous experiences (except my startup) where you try to make improvement on the existing product. In PayPal, the diversity of the technological and business challenges makes me wear many hats and I enjoy it. It is also a place where I deal with various code in different languages interacting with each other.
I started learning technology with my bachelor in REC Warangal (now NIT Warangal). I am greatly indebt to my senior Anil Kumar Pugalia (a.k.a Pugs) for establishing sound fundamental base in programming. Thanks Pugs.
I got hooked in stock trading after I made 40% in my first three months (2003 end).
I started trading in 2003 as a way to learn something different and important apart of my technological world. I got hooked in stock trading after I made 40% in my first three months (2003 end). I lost 60% after that when I relied on a paid service to provide me picks. So I decided to make my own research and use my own models to provide me stock picks.
I started marathon learning about market, stock analysis, charting which is still going on with me being a level 1 candidate of CFA (Dec 2008) charter. I am also trying to build a site Mukherjee Research to share my financial knowledge with the world.
I had a basic model in 3 months and the model is still evolving. I tend to not complicate the model. I have a universal filter for the stock.Price range I am willing to invest on (50 cents or greater) and liquidity provided to get in and out of it (Average Daily Volume > 200000 shares). I then have names for the different test criteria like
I then check the sector and industry of the stock to see if this industry or sector is favourable in the current economic condition. Then I calculate the intrinsic value of the stock and decide I should buy it or not.
It also brought a very different perspective into our life. I no longer spend time watching rerun of the same news or some soap opera. I are very busy trying to figure out what else are there to learn about the market.
I had an unusual spike in my learning curve from the time I found Personal MBA (http://personalmba.com/). I got very interested on the psychological books. I expanded my knowledge on every possible direction including learning Project Management from Cadence, People Management and Financial Management from AMA (American Management Association).
I am random shooter and I am lucky to be in some special moments (like taking a snap of Rocky Mountain Elk). I will learn professional photography as soon as possible.
